Barbary Macaque (Macaca sylvanus), Upper Rock Nature Reserve, Gibraltar

Over 1 million tourists visit the Rock of Gibraltar every year. One of the main draws is the population of Barbary macaques that reside in the Upper Rock Nature Reserve.

Unfortunately poor tourist practices and exploitation by taxi drivers/guides has led to them developing an unfair reputation.

With the help of Brian Gomila of Monkey Talk - Gibraltar, this gallery will hopefully portray these fascinating animals in a way that too few tourists take the time to observe.
